Modern Day Slavery – Human Trafficking:
An informational day at SHF

Will  raise our awareness of human trafficking, and discuss ways to support survivors of human trafficking, sponsored by Sisters of the Holy Family and the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose.

The Peace and Justice Committee is planning an informational day open to the public entitled Modern-Day Slavery: Human Trafficking for Saturday, June 20, 2009, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The day is being co-sponsored with the Dominican Sisters and will be held at SHFMotherhouse.  The day includes:

Speakers from: 

  • Asian Anti-Trafficking Collaborative, San Francisco, assists victims/survivors of Asian descent
    who are exploited
    mainly through forced labor.

  • Special Agents of the FBI;

  • Not for Sale, an international abolitionist group founded at
    USF, San Francisco;

  • MISSSEY, Oakland who works with sexually exploited youth.

We will have items for purchase that are made by survivors of human trafficking.
