“Hunger Awareness” Month
Feeding the poor is not enough. They must be enabled to care for their families. The Sisters of the Holy Family began cooking schools for the children of the poor in the 1870s. The Sisters also held annual dinners at Thanksgiving feeding hundreds of children. Today Plump Jack Restaurant of San Francisco continues that tradition at Holy Family Day Home.Picture of cooking class C. 1890 http://ow.ly/7iqFM
