The Sisters of the Holy Family affirm the sanctity of life from womb to tomb. Since our founding in 1872, our affirmation of life has found its expression in our mission to seek out and advocate for the poor and needy, especially families, for the Kingdom of God. Our early experiences in post-Gold Rush San Francisco led us toward pioneering efforts in early childhood care and education and religious formation. Later experience led us to commitments to oppose the death penalty, to support efforts against human trafficking and to promote the Earth Charter. More recently, our own experience of aging is leading us to seek to model for others a life-affirming way of caring for the elderly until God calls us home.
