A HOT BUTTON ISSUE
Immigration Policy Reform needs our action now. Our representatives must be encouraged to adopt just and fair policies affecting our undocumented sisters and brothers.
Here is an opportunity for us as Sisters of the Holy Family to “seek out and advocate for the poor, especially poor families, for the kingdom of God.”
The USCCB has listed 5 necessary components of a just and compassionate immigration policy that:
provides a path to citizenship for undocumented persons in the country;
- preserves family unity;
- provides legal paths for low skilled immigrant workers to work here;
- restores due process protections to our immigration enforcement policies;
- addresses the root causes of migration, such as persecution and economic disparity.
What can we do?
Take a few minutes to access www.justiceforimmigrants.org and sign on to the petition;
Write a note or give a call to your congresspersons and senators asking for reform;
Encourage family and friends to do the same;
Pray for a just and compassionate solution
